Infrastructure issues in the sector raised ahead of the European Championships

Infrastructure problems in the field of sport shooting in Armenia continue to remain relevant. During a press conference invited ahead of the European Senior Championships, the head coach of the Armenian national shooting team, Seyran Nikoghosyan, stated that there is only one proper sports school operating in the country.

According to him, there is a shortage of training bases both in the capital and in the provinces. He expressed hope that the sector will develop after the championships.

The RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, Zhanna Andreasyan, informed that the state has allocated 500 million AMD for the organization of the championships. According to her, during the organizational phase, the goal was set to acquire at least a portion of the equipment—targets and other specific items—which will later be directed toward infrastructure development.

Andreasyan noted that the concept and approaches for the development of shooting have been discussed with the federation, and the state is ready to carry out that work. She also emphasized that there are plans to promote the sport in schools within the framework of the “Physical Education” subject.

The European Shooting Championship for seniors will be held in Yerevan from February 27 to March 5.
