Residential burglaries uncovered in Kotayk
Criminal police in Kotayk have solved several cases of residential burglaries recorded in the province.
On January 26, a resident of Arinj village alerted the Police Operational Management Center, reporting that during their absence, unidentified individuals had broken a window and stolen $9,000. Criminal proceedings were initiated on charges of illegal entry into a residence and theft.
During the investigation, two similar reports were received on February 6 from the village of Verin Ptghni. In one case, the house had been ransacked and robbed; in the other, the theft was unsuccessful. Evidence found at the scenes suggested that at least two individuals were involved and that all three cases were likely connected.
As a result of operational-search measures, law enforcement officers received information that the burglaries and the attempted theft were committed by two residents of the capital, aged 31 and 27. On February 14, they also stole household items from a house on Bagrevand Street in Yerevan, transporting the loot in a Ford Transit vehicle.
On the same day, officers from the Kotayk Provincial Criminal Police detained three individuals on Arshakunyats Avenue and took them to the police station.
The 31-year-old and 27-year-old men were remanded in custody and transferred to a penitentiary institution.
