Armenia may control the Georgian-Azerbaijani airspace

The Indian Akash weapons purchased by Armenia will make it possible to control the Georgian-Azerbaijani E60 and E002 air routes.

The New Indian Express announced today that the first battery of the Indian air defense weapon is being sent to Armenia.

In 2023, Armenia unofficially ordered 15 batteries of the Akash-1S systems. The deal amounted to around $720 million.

This will significantly support the Armed Forces. The weapon has a range of 25-30 km. It can be assumed that if deployed on the Armenian-Azerbaijani borders, the weapon could control the Azerbaijani E002 and E60 routes. These are European Class B roads. The E60 is a road running from Georgia to Azerbaijan and vice versa, while the other also passes through Armenia towards Nakhichevan.
