Denmark wins the “Miss Universe” pageant for the first time

The title of “Miss Universe 2024” was won by Denmark’s representative, Victoria Theilvig, making her the first Dane in history to win the competition. The 21-year-old Theilvig is a dancer, entrepreneur, and future lawyer.

A total of 120 contestants participated in the competition. After the first round, which included a flamboyant national costume contest, 30 participants advanced to the next stage. Those who reached the quarterfinals showcased swimwear. While the 12 semifinalists presented evening gowns. In the final round, the top five contestants answered questions from the jury.

As a result, Danish representative Victoria Theilvig was crowned the winner, while Mexican contestant Fernanda Beltran secured second place.

This year marked a historic moment in the 72-year history of the “Miss Universe” pageant, as women over the age of 28 were allowed to participate for the first time. Prior to the 2023 competition, the Miss Universe organization had also lifted bans on pregnant women, mothers, and women who were married or previously married.
