Armenia to Join the Permanent Court of Arbitration

Armenia will join the Permanent Court of Arbitration. The draft law on ratifying the “Conventions for the Peaceful Settlement of International Disputes,” adopted in The Hague on July 29, 1899, and October 18, 1907, was presented to the National Assembly’s Legal and Judicial Affairs Committee by Armenia’s Representative on International Legal Issues, Yeghishe Kirakosyan.

Compensation for Deposits to Continue in 2025

In 2025, the program for compensating deposits made in the USSR Savings Bank (the Armenian SSR Republican Bank) before June 10, 1993, will continue. According to the government’s decision, compensation will be provided to citizens born on or before December 31, 1942, including those whose deposit was made by a deceased spouse during their married life.

Illegal Logging in Vayots Dzor Province

A case of illegal logging has been uncovered in the town of Yeghegnadzor, Vayots Dzor Province. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Along the banks of the Arpa River, near a restaurant complex, 40 freshly cut willow stumps were found. A 40-year-old man admitted that between December and January 8, he had cut down these trees without the necessary permits, using the wood as fuel.

One-Time Financial Assistance to Be Provided to Families Forcibly Displaced from Artsakh

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has announced that one-time targeted financial assistance will be provided to socially vulnerable families displaced from Artsakh. The aid will be transferred to beneficiaries through an electronic payment system using e-cards. The first group of these cards will be operational from December 2024 to February 28, 2025, via the “Idram” payment system.

A significant increase in respiratory infections, including Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), has been observed in the country. It ia noted particularly in northern regions. HMPV is a well-known respiratory virus that usually causes mild symptoms but can lead to more severe conditions in newborns, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
