Preliminary Investigation Completed in Case of Attempted Murder of Father by Minor Son
The Investigative Committee reports that the preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings initiated against a minor son regarding the attempted murder of his father has been completed.
The investigation revealed that the minor, motivated by revenge due to his father regularly insulting his mother and having previously subjected her to violence, inflicted more than a dozen stab wounds on various parts of his sleeping father’s body with a kitchen knife.
The man sustained multiple bodily injuries, but the crime was not completed: the father woke up and managed to seize the knife from his son’s hand.
Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the minor under Article 44-155, Part 2, Point 9 of the Criminal Code (attempted murder of a close relative). A measure of restraint—house arrest—has been applied to him.
Despite the house arrest, the minor is not residing under the same roof as his father.
The investigative body reports that the materials of the criminal case have been sent to the prosecutor with a motion to confirm them and submit them to court.
