The Fire in the Chambarak–Ttujaur Section Continues
The fire is still spreading in the Chambarak–Ttujaur section of Gegharkunik Province. The flames are moving in the direction of Dprabak. The fire broke out 3 days ago, on November 21, with 3 focal points, two of which were extinguished within a short period. However, the Ministry of Environment (MoE) reports that the fire has spread within the 1st, 2nd, and 4th forest protection sections of the Getik Forestry division of the “Chambarak Forestry” branch. Trees and grass cover are burning.
Forces from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) Rescue Service, a helicopter, as well as employees from the Kotayk and Gegharkunik provincial subdivisions of the MoE Eco-Patrol Service are involved in the firefighting efforts.
Due to the complex terrain, the fire in many sections has been extinguished using individual/personal means. Furthermore, the dry and windy weather conditions are hindering the complete suppression of the fire. The fire continues to spread towards the 6th forest protection section of the Dprabak Forestry division.
Firefighting efforts are ongoing.
