Fire Suppression Efforts Continue in Six Provinces of the Republic of Armenia

A total of 1,830 rescuers, 10 police officers, 103 eco-patrols, as well as 17 main and 143 auxiliary vehicles, are involved in the fire suppression efforts across various parts of six provinces of the Republic of Armenia (RA). This information is provided by the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

A Ministry of Defense (MoD) helicopter was also used in the suppression process, conducting 70 reconnaissance and firefighting flights.

Rescuers managed to extinguish the fires in the Spitakasar section of Martuni in Gegharkunik Province, Vardenyats Pass, the mountain adjacent to Zolakar, Spitak Pass in Lori Province, Lernajur, the Saratovka–Novoseltsovo section, near the villages of Gogaran–Saralanj, as well as in Ishkhanasar and the Ishkhanasar–Noravan areas of Syunik Province. In Kotayk Province, the fire in the “Dzorqash” area of Makravan, Hrazdan, was extinguished, and in Aragatsotn Province, the one near the Aparan Reservoir.

Simultaneously, fire suppression efforts continue in the “Kazachi” section of Dilijan in Tavush Province, near Navur, in the forests of the Dilijan serpentine roads, as well as near Dzorachen in Shirak Province.

Two of the three fire outbreaks that occurred on November 21 in the Chambarak–Ttu-jur section of Gegharkunik Province have been extinguished, with work continuing in the remaining area.

Residents of neighboring communities have actively joined the firefighting operations, assisting the rescuers.

It should be noted that major fires broke out in Tavush and Gegharkunik provinces on November 21, including in the area bordering Azerbaijan. The fire centers have not yet been extinguished in some locations. State bodies have not yet commented on the causes of the fires.
