9 dead as a result of clashes in Aleppo
Last night, the city of Aleppo, Syria, came under attack by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), resulting in civilian casualties and material damage.
A number of roads are closed, and traffic control has been established in various parts of the city. The Aleppo Governorate has temporarily suspended the operation of schools, universities, and state institutions.
Flights to and from Aleppo Airport have also been suspended for 24 hours.
The districts of Ashrafieh, Sheikh Maqsoud, and Al-Midan also came under fire during the exchanges.
According to Maria Gabrielyan, a former member of the Syrian Parliament, the two Kurdish neighborhoods directly border Armenian-populated areas, which is why the military operations have had a significant impact on the Armenian community as well. At this moment, there are no injuries among Armenians.
According to her, the situation was relatively peaceful on the morning of January 6; the Armenian community attended Divine Liturgy, and the diocesan leader received congratulations from the faithful. However, the situation escalated sharply after noon.
