Crimes committed with the use of firearms have increased
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, crimes committed with the use of firearms have increased between January and September. Since 2021, the number of such crimes has significantly risen.
In October, Prosecutor General Anna Vardanyan reported to the National Assembly that the number of registered crimes in the country had changed between 2019 and 2024. In 2023, the number of registered crimes increased by 13,816, or 51.4%, compared to 2019.
Between January and September of this year, 90 crimes were committed using firearms, with the highest number occurring in Yerevan. In the period from January to August 2024, 75 firearm-related crimes were recorded, marking a 36.4% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
