More than 850 Armenian trucks are stuck at Upper Lars

Armenian trucks are still stuck in line at Upper Lars.

On November 30, the road leading to the Upper Lars checkpoint was reopened for all vehicles. However, over 850 trucks remain stranded along the road. The Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars international highway had been closed to trucks since November 25 due to heavy snow.

A bypass road is planned to be built along the most hazardous section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway: 23-kilometer-long two-lane concrete road, 5 bridges, and 5 tunnels. Once completed, the new road will reduce travel time by nearly 1 hour and ensure uninterrupted traffic flow. The total length of the bypass road will be 9 kilometers.
