The bomb threat at the Shirak Regional Administration was false
A call was made to the “911” service, claiming that an explosive device was placed in the Shirak Regional Administration building and would explode in 10-15 minutes if they didn’t arrive.
The police quickly identified the author of the threat, who was located in a correctional facility, and it was revealed that the alarm was false.
Sappers and cynologists from the Russian military base checked the Regional Administration building and the area, and it was determined that there was no bomb and the threat was false. Police work revealed that the person who made the threat is a 30-year-old convict, S.G., who is serving his sentence in the Armavir Correctional Facility.
He had been convicted two years ago under Article 254 of the Criminal Code (for making a false report by abusing received information). He made the threat in the presence of the correctional facility staff. A report on the incident was filed by community police officer Boyajyan.
The documents have been sent to the Shirak Province Investigative Department with the aim of initiating new proceedings against the convict.
