Armenia intends to replace the militia with local defense forces. This was announced by Deputy Defense Minister Arman Sargsyan during a session of the National Assembly.

At its January 16 session, the government approved a draft regulation concerning the medical examination and assessment procedures for citizens subject to military service. This expands the scope of medical examinations conducted in primary healthcare institutions for male citizens turning 16 that year, for the purpose of registering them at military commissariats.

The Syunik Regional Court has found Jalal Harutyunyan, former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, guilty. However, the specific penalty he will face has yet to be disclosed.
