A new 20,000-dram banknote is being introduced into circulation
Starting January 27, 2025, a new 20,000-dram banknote will be introduced as a legal tender. It will be accepted unconditionally at its face value without any time limitations. This was announced by the Central Bank.
The reverse side of the banknote, issued in 2024, features a new visible color-changing security element. The numerical value in the lower left corner is printed with optically variable ink.
On the front side of the banknote, the issue year has been updated to 2024, and the signature of the Minister of Finance has been changed.
The 20,000-dram banknotes issued between 1999 and 2021 will remain in circulation without any restrictions or changes in circulation conditions.
The dimensions of the 20,000-dram banknote are 150 x 72 mm. The banknote features a portrait of Ivan Aivazovsky (Hovhannes Aivazian). The primary color of the banknote is green.
