Pashinyan announced that gasoline prices in Armenia have decreased due to imports from Azerbaijan: what do the figures show?

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that “Premium” type gasoline imported from Azerbaijan has reduced prices in the market. “Premium” gasoline, which previously cost 510 AMD, is now being sold for 430 AMD.

According to the Prime Minister, the average price of gasoline in the Armenian market is now 460–480 AMD, with some companies selling gasoline at 440 AMD. During the same period, the price of diesel fuel also decreased by about 2%. Compared to December, the price of “Regular” gasoline has decreased by around 8%, dropping from 500 AMD to 460 AMD.

Pashinyan emphasized that these price changes are conditioned by the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan and not by business interests. According to the Prime Minister, the concerns expressed against the imports are misplaced, as the importation was carried out within the framework of the peace agenda. In the Prime Minister’s opinion, those opposing the import of petroleum products from Azerbaijan are the monopolists present in the Armenian market, for whom the price reduction is not beneficial.

It is noted that as a result of the meeting between the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan on November 28, 22 wagons of “A95” type SOCAR gasoline were sent to Armenia, and larger shipments are planned for the future.
