Gold and silver prices in Armenia double and triple
Over the past two years, the price of gold in Armenia has nearly doubled. While 1 gram of 999-fine gold cost approximately 28,000 AMD in 2024, its value has reached 57,874 AMD today. During the same period, 375-fine gold increased from 10,823 AMD to 21,702 AMD.
The changes did not occur all at once. In April 2025, 999-fine gold was priced at 39,410 AMD, reaching 50,653 AMD by November, and 57,874 AMD in January 2026. This rapid growth indicates that the gold market in Armenia, as in the rest of the world, has experienced fluctuations in recent months due to global processes and the behavior of central banks. RA Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan has also addressed this issue.
Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan emphasized that gold prices are primarily driven by purchases made by central banks rather than an increase in consumer demand. He pointed out that unless this behavior changes, gold prices are unlikely to drop significantly.
In addition to gold, significant inflation has been recorded in the silver market. In 2024, the value of 1 gram of silver was 365 AMD, whereas today, one gram is worth 1,166 AMD.
