The export of a number of products will be banned for 6 months, except for EAEU member countries
During today’s government meeting, a decision was made to ban the export of wheat, meslin, barley, corn, buckwheats, sunflower seeds, and sunflower oil from the Republic of Armenia to countries that are not members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) for a period of six months.
The main reason for not exporting the aforementioned products is to meet domestic market demand. Despite local production, Armenia mainly imports grain to satisfy its domestic demand.
Armenia’s trade turnover with the EAEU has increased more than 3 fold over the last 3 years. In 2021, the trade turnover amounted to 2.96 billion dollars, while as of September this year, it has reached 9.37 billion dollars.
This decision will come into force on January 4, 2025, and will be valid until July 4, 2025, inclusive.
