New Year’s Rush: Prices of Sausages
Along with the New Year celebrations, price changes in some supermarkets in Yerevan are already evident. Based on previous years’ experience, we can say that consumer activity rises during the New Year; stores become crowded, and with the increased demand for products, their prices also rise. In some cases, the price increase is a few hundred dram, while in others, it rises by 1,000 dram or more. Previous years have shown that during the New Year shopping period, food products, especially meat products, fruits, sweets, and alcoholic beverages, tend to be the most expensive.
Consumers often complain about the price hikes, yet New Year shopping remains inevitable.
Sausages remain one of the most sought-after products on New Year’s tables, but the price increase forces many to reconsider their choices. Although still within the average price range, sausages can be found on the typical Armenian table. Supermarkets explain the price increase by the rise in product costs and supplier price hikes. Below, we have selected several supermarkets in Yerevan and researched how sausage prices have changed over the past year. We compared the data from October 2023 and December 2024.
