Tariff Quotas to Be Applied to Certain Imports from Serbia
The Armenian government plans to introduce tariff quotas for certain goods imported from the Republic of Serbia in 2025. According to the draft decision, the quotas will apply to cheese (2 tons), alcoholic beverages (8708 liters of spirits), and tobacco products (5 million pieces).
The main goal of implementing the quotas is to regulate import volumes and ensure the protection of local producers’ interests. The allocation of quotas will be carried out between two main groups: historical buyers and other participants in foreign economic activity. Historical buyers will have an advantage based on the volumes of goods imported in previous years. The remaining volumes will be distributed among other importers. As such, for historical buyers, 75% of the total allowed import volume for 2025 will be allocated, while 25% will be designated for other participants in foreign economic activity.
Participants in foreign economic activity must submit applications to obtain licenses for the allowed import volume for 2025.
The licenses will be issued electronically, and importers will have 2 working days to male amendments in them. The licenses will be valid until the end of 2025, and information on unused quotas must be submitted by August 10, 2025.
