The government plans to spend 42-43 billion drams on agriculture in 2025
Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, summarizing the department’s work in 2024, stated at a press conference that the government plans to allocate 42-43 billion drams for the agriculture sector in 2025.
In his speech, the minister noted that livestock production had seen a 1.5% increase in the first 9 months of 2024, while crop production had grown by 7.6%. Papoyan believes the state plays a significant role in these developments, adding that in 2021, the state spent about 21 billion drams on agriculture, and by 2023, 2024, and 2025, this figure has doubled. More than 40 billion drams were spent in 2023, and again 40 billion drams in 2024. The plan is to spend 42-43 billion drams on agriculture in 2025.
The minister believes the state should not view extensive agriculture as the main development method and should focus on intensive agriculture instead. According to Papoyan, a country like Armenia, with limited land and water resources, should focus on intensive agriculture with limited resources.
