Refutation of disinformation regarding school closures
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport officially refutes the information circulating on various platforms in recent days, claiming that 231 schools are planned to be closed in Armenia starting from September 2026.
According to the post released by the Ministry, this information does not correspond to reality.
The Ministry reports that the state policy implemented in the field of education is aimed at the effective development of public education, the expansion of educational accessibility, and the improvement of the quality of education, rather than the limitation of educational opportunities.
“The obvious proof is the large-scale school construction projects currently being implemented, within the framework of which new schools and kindergartens are regularly opened in various settlements of the republic,” the statement notes.
The MoESCS emphasizes that it is regrettable that the education sector is being exploited and targeted to cause groundless anxiety and misunderstandings among the public. The Ministry urges citizens and the professional community not to succumb to manipulations and to be guided exclusively by official and reliable sources.
