Yerevan’s Main Christmas Tree to be Updated; Amount to be Spent is Known

In 2025, the branches and lighting of Yerevan’s main Christmas tree, installed in Republic Square, will be completely replaced. The city authorities will spend about 50 million drams (approximately 130 thousand US dollars) for the work.

Preparatory work for the installation of the Christmas tree began on October 30, earlier than usual. In 2024, they started on November 5, and in 2023, on November 13. The Municipality reports that the work started early in order to complete the assembly and updating of the structure by mid-December. After the metallic cone is assembled, the installation of branches, ornaments, and garlands will begin.

The work is being carried out by a communal company subordinate to the Municipality. To avoid obstructing traffic, the main works are performed at night, after 23:00.

The current Christmas tree was brought from Russia in 2018. The source for acquiring the new branches is not yet clear, but the old ones will be used to decorate the Christmas trees of the administrative districts.
