Study on Danone infant formulas to be conducted in Armenia

The Food Safety Inspection Body will begin examining Danone company’s infant formulas. The Inspection Body stated that international publications have been viewed as an alert, and the process has already been initiated.

In recent days, reports have been circulating in the international press that certain batches of Danone baby formulas are being recalled from circulation in several European countries due to the potential presence of a toxin called “cereulide.”

The Inspection Body noted that the results of the ongoing study will be published later.

Earlier, an investigation was also launched in France regarding baby formulas from another manufacturer, Nestle. Two infants had died due to the presence of “cereulide” in the milk.

Back in January, Danone issued a press release claiming that analyses had confirmed the safety of the company’s products. However, considering that regulatory bodies in some countries have begun making changes to the allowable content in formulas, the company announced that it is recalling limited batches of its infant products from various international markets.

It is also known that certain batches of Danone’s Aptamil formulas have been withdrawn from circulation in Turkey as well.
