Former police officer received over 600,000 AMD in bribe

The Anti-Corruption Committee revealed that an individual who held a position in one of the Shirak Regional units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) until June 2025, using their official powers and the influence derived from them, received funds under the pretext of bribery mediation.

The investigation found that a resident of Gyumri, Shirak region, approached the said official for the purpose of obtaining a driver’s license. The latter assured the resident that they had connections with officials who, in exchange for a bribe, could illegally arrange the issuance of a driver’s license within 20 days.

Under this pretext, a total of approximately 600,000 AMD was received from the Gyumri resident in 2025. However, according to the preliminary investigation data, the former police employee did not transfer the money to any official.

Charges have been brought against the individual for receiving money under the pretext of bribery mediation.
