Narek Samsonyan’s detention replaced with house arrest
The detention imposed on Narek Samsonyan, co-author of the “Imnemnimi” program, has been replaced with house arrest. This was announced by his advocate, Ruben Melikyan.
According to the lawyer, the Court of Appeals granted the defense’s appeal and decided to commute the detention to house arrest.
Ruben Melikyan noted that Samsonyan remains in the hospital and is undergoing post-operative treatment. According to him, Samsonyan will likely stay in the medical facility for a few more days.
It should be recalled that on January 23, Samsonyan was transferred to the “Izmirlian” Medical Center, where, upon a doctor’s recommendation, he ended the hunger strike he had previously declared. Later, he was transferred back to the penitentiary institution, after which he announced that he was resuming the hunger strike.
During the court session held on January 29, Samsonyan was brought to court in a wheelchair.
