Former Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan Arrested
The information was confirmed by his brother, Avetik Kerobyan, who noted that law enforcement officers had searched Kerobyan’s apartment. He claimed that the actions are not related to Vahan’s term in office, but the family is trying to understand their actual reason.
Kerobyan is an accused in a criminal case related to the activities of his ministry. He is involved in a case connected with the “Synergy” company, under the article of abuse of official position. According to the Investigative Committee, in 2023, the ministry preferred “Synergy,” which offered a higher price in the tender, ignoring the other bid. Kerobyan does not accept the accusation and is trying to prove his innocence in court.
“Synergy” is a software and consulting company that implements various programs for state and international organizations. It has been operating in Armenia since 1999 and is headed by Artur Hovhannisyan.
In recent months, the company has come under scrutiny in a case concerning possible abuses in the Ministry of Economy’s procurements. Within the scope of that case, company employees Ani Gevorgyan and Lili Mkryan were also arrested.
