Appeals Court Upholds Acquittal in the Case of Throwing an Apple at Pashinyan

The Court of Appeals of the Republic of Armenia (RA) has upheld the acquittal verdict for Albert Arstamyan, who was accused of throwing an apple in the direction of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

On May 26, the Court of First Instance acquitted Arstamyan, stating that the evidence presented was insufficient to prove the charge of hooliganism. On August 7, the prosecution appealed this decision.

The Court of Appeals rejected the appeal filed by prosecutor Ye. Abovyan, leaving the previous verdict in force. The verdict can be appealed to the Court of Cassation within a one-month period from the date of receiving the decision.

It should be noted that 74-year-old Albert Arstamyan was charged in August 2024 for throwing an apple toward Prime Minister Pashinyan during his visit.
