Criminal Prosecution Initiated Against Judge in Armavir; He is Suspected of Abuse of Authority and Issuing an Unjust Verdict

The RA Anti-Corruption Committee has completed investigative actions concerning a judge of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Armavir Province. He was accused of abusing his official authority and issuing a clearly unjust judicial act.

According to investigative data, in 2022, the judge accepted for proceeding a civil claim submitted by his own relative, despite the existence of grounds for returning the application. During the court session, he failed to disclose this kinship, issued a clearly unjust judicial act by fully satisfying the submitted application, and they subsequently fraudulently embezzled real estate valued at approximately 38.2 million drams, thereby legalizing criminal income.

The Prosecutor General petitioned the Supreme Judicial Council to grant consent for initiating a public criminal prosecution against the judge, which was satisfied. The judge has been charged under Article 441, Part 2, Point 5, and Article 482, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. Two pre-trial measures have been applied against him: a prohibition on absenting from the country and a bail of 5 million drams.

Notice: An accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a legally binding court verdict.
