Criminal prosecution against Major General Grigorii Khachaturov terminated
The criminal prosecution initiated against Major General Grigorii Khachaturov has been terminated. His defense lawyer, Hakob Yenokyan, reported that the Anti-Corruption Court granted their motion.
According to Yenokyan, the public criminal prosecution was terminated due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. The criminal case has been dismissed only in Khachaturov’s part, whereas former Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan and other individuals are also implicated in the same case.
Khachaturov was released on bail on December 2, 2023. The criminal prosecution against him had been initiated on charges of legalizing particularly large amounts of criminally obtained property by using his official position. He had been detained, but the court rejected the motion for arrest, and Khachaturov was released from the courtroom. The Prosecutor’s Office subsequently filed an appeal with the appellate court, demanding the decision be reviewed.
