The Number of Foreign Workers is Increasing in Armenia
There are 854 employees working at the “Yerevan Sanitation and Waste Management” institution, 67 of whom are foreign workers. This information was learned from the institution’s Facebook page. The foreign workers have arrived in Armenia from various countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, 12,900 foreign nationals were employed in Armenia in 2021, while in 2022, this number reached 23,700.
Data published in 2023 by the International Monetary Fund indicates that 57 percent of the approximately 90,000 foreign workers who relocated to Armenia already have full-time jobs. It is expected that the remaining 43 percent will be employed by 2023-2027. This growth is mainly linked to the development of the IT sector, tax incentives, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Artsakh. The report also mentions that forcibly displaced people from Artsakh will also integrate into the labor market during 2024-2028.
