Secretary general of “Hairenik” party arrested
The Secretary General of the “Hairenik” Party, Khachik Galstyan, was arrested overnight. Galstyan is also a professor at Yerevan State University and holds a Doctorate from the Department of Political Science. Lawyer Arsen Babayan reported the arrest on his Facebook page.
“The Anti-Corruption Committee arrested my friend, Khachik Galstyan, on trumped-up charges for the purpose of detention. Political persecutions continue,” Babayan wrote.
Later, the party’s press secretary, Hripsime Arakelyan, announced that another party representative, Aram Kocharyan, was also arrested in Vagharshapat. No official comment regarding the incident has been released by law enforcement authorities as of yet.
