Number of convicts in RA surpasses the number of detainees
The Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan has announced that for the first time in the last 5 years, a historic figure has been recorded regarding the ratio of convicts to detainees.
She spoke about this during a discussion titled “Obstacles to Maintaining Reasonable Timeframes for the Examination of Judicial Cases.”
According to the Minister, as of today, there are 24 more convicted individuals in Armenia than there are persons in detention.
“We have not had such a figure in the last 5 years. The number of detainees has consistently been higher than the number of convicts,” she noted.
Galyan expressed hope that in the near future, due to the acceleration of processes, the difference in these numbers will be much larger in favor of convicts.
