Preliminary investigation into the murder of former Parakar community
Head Concluded The preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings initiated regarding the murder of the former head of the Parakar community on September 24, 2025, has been concluded for two individuals. The information was reported by the Investigative Committee.
Specifically, during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case concerning the murder in Merdzavan, public criminal prosecution was initiated against two persons. Criminal proceedings against Gevorg Harutyunyan were initiated under Article 155, Part 1 (murder), Articles 44-155, Part 1 (attempted murder), and Article 335, Part 1 (illegal circulation of firearms, their main components, ammunition, and other materials) of the Criminal Code. The criminal proceedings against Narek Ohanyan were initiated under Articles 46-155, Part 1 (aiding and abetting murder) and Articles 46-44-155, Part 1 (aiding and abetting attempted murder).
Detention was chosen as a preventive measure against them, and the criminal case, along with the indictment, has been sent to the supervising prosecutor. The preliminary investigation continues regarding other potential participants.
To recall, on September 23, at 23:52, an alert was received by the MIA Police that shots were fired on the Yerevan highway in the Merdzavan settlement of the Armavir region. The community head of Merdzavan, Valodya Grigoryan, and another person were killed, while another individual was wounded. According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the murder of the community head in Parakar was a continuation of the events of February.
