One Year Since the Israel-Hamas War
On October 7, 2023, one year passed since the beginning of the war between Hamas and Israel. The clashes led to large-scale military operations in the Middle East.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, over the past year, 41,788 people have been killed and 96,700 wounded.
Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported 1,200 deaths and approximately 8,700 injuries on its side.
According to the UN, at least 10,000 people may be buried under the rubble in Gaza, which means the actual death toll could be significantly higher.
Hamas has kidnapped around 250 hostages, including women and children. As of October 3, Israeli officials reported that 112 hostages have been released from Gaza in exchange for prisoners held in Israel.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), prior to the war, there were 36 operational hospitals in Gaza; now, that number has decreased to 17.
