The 1003rd day of the Russia-Ukraine war: The threat of nuclear weapon use is increasing
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in his address that they will target the military facilities of countries that allow their weapons to be used against Russian targets.
On November 19, Russia officially adopted a new nuclear weapons doctrine, initially announced in September. According to this doctrine, Russia will decide when to use nuclear weapons. A country without nuclear weapons that receives support will be considered a joint aggressor. Nuclear weapons may also be used in the event of an attack on Belarus.
On November 19, the Ukrainian side launched 6 ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles in the direction of the Bryansk region. In response, the Russian side deployed its new “Oreshnik” missile system.
It is reported that this missile system is impossible to intercept, as it travels at a speed of 2.5–3 kilometers per second.
After the use of the “Oreshnik” missile system, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated, “This is yet another proof that Russia is not interested in peace.” In turn, Putin declared, “Russia always advocates for resolving disputes through peaceful means,” but warned that “its readiness for any developments should not be underestimated.”
