Iran’s New Radar Will Also Monitor the Airspace of Azerbaijan and Armenia

Iran has installed a new radar with a range of 800 km in the mountainous region of Gilan province to monitor the northern airspace of the country. It has been integrated into Iran’s air defense network. This information is according to Islamic World News.

With the presence of the radar, named “Nazir,” in Gilan, Iran’s air defense control will extend over the airspace of Armenia, Azerbaijan, most of Eastern Turkey, much of Georgia, Western Turkmenistan, the southwestern part of Kazakhstan, and the Caspian Sea.

On October 26, 2024, during Israeli airstrikes on Iran, the airspace over the Caspian Sea was reportedly used, possibly with the cooperation of the Baku government, to target the Shahroud facilities, according to Islamic World News.
