The Armed Forces of Armenia Rank 91st in the World: Georgia 94th, Azerbaijan 60th, Iran 16th, Turkey 9th
According to the Global Firepower analytical platform, Armenia currently ranks 91st in the 2025 military strength index. Compared to the previous year, Armenia has improved its position by 11 spots.
The ranking includes the armies of 145 countries. Among neighboring nations, Armenia is ahead of only Georgia’s army. Georgia’s Armed Forces dropped 10 spots in one year, landing in 94th place. Iran ranks 16th, Azerbaijan 60th, and Turkey 9th in the world.
The regional leader is Russia, whose army ranks 2nd globally. The United States holds the top position, followed by China in 3rd place. India and France, with which Armenia has established strategic ties in recent years, are ranked 4th and 7th, respectively.
Researchers at PowerIndex considered various factors when compiling the rankings, including a country’s finances, resources, logistical capabilities, aviation, naval power, military personnel, and more. The higher the position (and the lower the score), the stronger the military is. The top ten also include the armed forces of North Korea (5th), the United Kingdom (6th), Japan (8th), and Italy (10th).
