Armenian-Turkish Border May Open in Early 2026
Karo Paylan, former Member of the Turkish Parliament, is confident that the coming months will be decisive for Armenian-Turkish relations. According to him, the border may open as early as the beginning of 2026, initially for citizens of third countries, and subsequently for citizens of Armenia and Turkey.
“It is my dream that the Armenian-Turkish border opens as soon as possible. Positive developments are expected in January-February of next year. Initially, the border will open for citizens of third countries, and a few months later, also for Armenians and Turks,” Karo Paylan told journalists during the “Orbeli Forum” held in Armenia.
He did not elaborate on when and under what conditions these agreements were reached, but noted that Turkey is ready to move forward: “These months will be very crucial for the relations between Armenia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. If Western countries also support the process, progress is possible.”
According to Paylan, Turkey has understood that it has no gain from war in the Caucasus: “It can only achieve success through peace and open borders. Now everything depends on Aliyev’s calculations: what he will gain and what he will lose. If investments also join this process, progress will be inevitable.”
