Primaries to Be Held in Parakar Community of Armavir Region
Primaries will be held in the Parakar community of the Armavir region. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this through a video posted on his Facebook page.
To self-nominate as a candidate for the position of acting community leader, applicants are requested to send their CV, a short motivational letter, a photograph, and a copy of their passport to the email address info@civilcontract.am by 12:00 PM on January 2, 2025.
The former head of the Parakar community was Ludvig Gyulnazaryan, a member of the “Civil Contract” party. He resigned following a murder incident. On November 16, at midnight, a group of people had an argument at a car wash in the Ajapnyak district, during which shots were fired, resulting in one death and two injuries. The Investigative Committee has not yet disclosed the identities of the injured individuals. It was reported that the 42-year-old man was killed by gunfire from his brother. Law enforcement classified the death as accidental. Criminal charges have been filed against one individual, but no arrests have been made so far.
It is mentioned that Gyulnazaryan was also involved in the altercation and, according to reports, even sustained a gunshot wound. The car wash where the incident occurred belongs to a friend of the community leader. During the dispute, Gyulnazaryan reportedly arrived at the scene to support his friends. A criminal case has been initiated under articles related to murder and the illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.
This will be the second time primaries are held in Armenia. The first such election took place from December 8 to 10 in Gyumri, where a three-day primary was organized. Mobile teams knocked on residents’ doors and invited them to vote for one of the mentioned candidates.
As a result of the Gyumri primaries, independent candidate Sarik Minasyan won with 253 votes.
