Hovik Aghazaryan and Hakob Aslanyan to Form a Political Party

Hovik Aghazaryan and Hakob Aslanyan, former MPs removed from the “Civil Contract” party, are founding a new political party. As Aghazaryan announced on his Facebook page, the new party will be called MASK (United National Socialist Party). They plan to contest for power in the 2026 parliamentary elections.

Aghazaryan also mentioned that several former members of the Civil Contract party have expressed interest in joining the new party. The founding congress of the party is scheduled to take place on February 3, 2025.

The newly established party aims to bring a fresh perspective to the fight against corruption and work towards uniting the Armenian diaspora, suggesting, for example, the introduction of a bicameral parliamentary system in Armenia.

On December 3, Aghazaryan was expelled from the Civil Contract party. The reasons cited included the leakage of state and party confidential information, as well as gross violations of public moral norms.
