Georgian Protesters Celebrate New Year on Rustaveli Avenue

On New Year’s Eve, Georgian protesters gathered on Rustaveli Avenue in the center of Tbilisi to celebrate the New Year and protest against the government. Thousands of Georgians spent the night on Rustaveli Avenue, waving European Union flags and chanting anti-government slogans. This was reported by Euronews.

Many protesters stayed near the parliament building, voicing their opposition to abandoning European integration. The protesters set up festive tables, sang, set off fireworks, and danced. They were joined by former Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.

Participants and organizers of the protest have vowed to continue the demonstrations until early parliamentary elections are held in the country.
