
Preliminary Elections Begin Today in Parakar Enlarged Community
Preliminary elections in the Parakar enlarged community have begun today. This was announced on Facebook by Arthur Hovhannisyan, Secretary of the Civil Contract faction of the National Assembly.
By a decision made during the December 3 session of the Civil Contract administration, 6 candidates will participate in the preliminary elections for the Parakar enlarged community. They are: Arpine Arakelyan, Lyudvig Gyulnazaryan, Karen Yeremyan, Mher Harutyunyan, Arman Mnatsakanyan, and Gor Saribekyan.
The candidate who receives the most votes in the preliminary elections will be appointed acting head of the Parakar enlarged community. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on his Telegram channel.
Similar elections were previously held in Gyumri. Parakar is the second community where the head will be appointed by Pashinyan.
After resigning from office, Parakar’s former head, Davit Minasyan, was arrested in June 2024 and later released on bail in September. Lyudvig Gyulnazaryan has also been involved in criminal proceedings due to a murder committed in Yerevan. He was present at the crime scene and sustained a leg injury.
The primaries will take place from January 11 to 13, 2025.
