Armenia and the US Signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement: What Is It, and What Are Its Sections?
Armenia and the United States have signed a Strategic Partnership Charter. The signing ceremony took place in Washington. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed the agreement.
Addressing issues of security and defense, Blinken announced that a special team on border security would visit Armenia next week to work with Armenian partners on strengthening border security. Additionally, the two countries will begin negotiations on the “123 Agreement.” This agreement creates a legal framework for peaceful nuclear cooperation between the US and other countries, including the transfer of nuclear materials, equipment, and technology under strict safety and control guarantees.
In his speech, Ararat Mirzoyan noted that Armenia expresses its willingness to join the Global Coalition against ISIS, thereby demonstrating its commitment to the fight against international terrorism.
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published the Strategic Partnership Charter with the United States. It consists of a preamble and five sections:
Section 1: Principles of Partnership
Section 2: Economic, Trade, Transport, and Energy Cooperation
