
Nikol Pashinyan Plans to Visit the U.S. in February
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is planning to visit the United States in early February. This was announced by the Prime Minister’s spokesperson, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, on her Facebook page.
According to the statement, Prime Minister Pashinyan will participate in the 5th Annual International Religious Freedom Summit in Washington, as well as the National Prayer Breakfast. During the summit, Pashinyan is expected to deliver a speech.
On January 14, in Washington, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed a strategic partnership document, reinforcing cooperation between the two countries.
During the signing ceremony, Blinken stated that in the coming weeks, a team specializing in customs and border security from the U.S. will travel to Armenia to work with their Armenian counterparts on enhancing border security capabilities.
On January 5, 2024, the United States included Azerbaijan on its Religious Freedom Watch List, citing serious violations of religious freedom or tolerance of such violations following its establishment of control over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Armenia joined this International Religious Freedom Alliance on June 12, 2020. The alliance aims to bring together high-ranking government representatives to discuss measures participating countries are willing to take to promote freedom of religion and belief, as well as protect the rights of religious minorities worldwide.
