Donald Trump Demands Greenland’s Transfer to the United States from Denmark’s Prime Minister

Newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump has held a phone call with Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. According to Financial Times, during the call, President Trump demanded that Greenland be transferred to the United States. The information was shared with Financial Times by five high-ranking officials from European governments.

Sources reported that the conversation was tense. Trump displayed aggressive and confrontational behavior during the call. He rejected any proposals for cooperation with Denmark. His sole aim was for Denmark to transfer the world’s largest island, Greenland, to the United States.

European officials initially viewed Trump’s statements about Greenland as a political maneuver to increase influence over a NATO member state, however, they now believe that the U.S. president’s intentions regarding the island are serious.
