Arusyak Julhakyan Elected New Vice President of PACE

Arusyak Julhakyan, a member of the National Assembly from the “Civil Contract” party, has been elected as the Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). She announced this on her Facebook page.

Each year, 19 vice presidents are elected within PACE. They are elected at the beginning of a regular session and serve until the opening of the next session. The Winter Session commenced on January 27 in Strasbourg and will continue until January 31.

During the session, various key issues will be discussed, including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Europe’s commitment to achieving fair and lasting peace in Ukraine, and other matters. Another significant agenda item is the issue of parliamentary elections in Georgia.

Julhakyan succeeds Greek politician Theodoros Rousopoulos in this role. He was elected during the January 2024 session.
