Narek Karapetyan clarifies that there was no problem with ENA until the statement was made
Samvel Karapetyan’s nephew, responding to journalists’ questions, noted that no problems regarding the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) had been recorded until Samvel Karapetyan’s statement that he stands by the Church “in our own way.”
“Samvel Karapetyan is a businessman who has been working for many years, but Armenian businessmen are not only here to make money. They have ideas, principles, and are ready even for financial losses if it concerns the protection of values and convictions,” he noted.
According to him, one of the important conditions for having a developed country is that every businessman should be confident that their investments are protected by the state.
“Such an attitude towards the business environment damages the country’s economic reputation,” he added.
He also addressed Samvel Karapetyan’s arrest, emphasizing that the latter has been under arrest for 150 days.
“Contact between the public and Samvel Karapetyan could have revealed many things. Perhaps that is exactly what they are afraid of. If the operational information was really important, it should have been public,” he said.
Narek Karapetyan, the coordinator of the Mer Dzevov (In Our Own Way) movement, was unable to continue his speech several times while making a statement to journalists; his address was interrupted by loud “freedom” chants from the crowd.
According to Karapetyan, the movement will continue to fight within the law for the protection of national identity, values, and the Armenian Apostolic Church.
