Red Cross visits armenian prisoners held in Baku after seven-month gap

On December 24 and 25, 2025, representatives of the Red Cross visited Armenian prisoners in Baku. This was reported by human rights advocate Siranush Sahakyan.

The visit, conducted on behalf of the Red Cross Geneva office, took place after a seven-month hiatus.

According to Sahakyan, the visit had a positive impact on both the prisoners and their families. During the visit, letters were also collected and subsequently delivered to the families of the prisoners.

At the same time, Sahakyan emphasized that Ruben Vardanyan is being held in isolation and has been deprived of the opportunity for his weekly phone call.

Furthermore, Ruben Vardanyan, as well as other detainees, have been prohibited from reading the Bible and possessing religious symbols.
