Armenia joins the Peace Council without mandatory membership fee

According to Ani Badalyan, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Armenia has signed the Charter of the Peace Council on the basis of participation without a mandatory membership fee.

It should be noted that to join the Peace Council, members are required to pay a 1 billion dollar membership fee.

According to Badalyan, states invited by US President Donald Trump may join the Council without a clearly defined membership fee for a period of up to three years, after which this status is subject to review.

The Spokesperson emphasized that the RA Government approved joining the Peace Council specifically on these terms. At the same time, it was noted that the reported membership fee refers exclusively to a voluntary payment and can only be applied if a country expresses a desire to become a permanent member of the Council within one year after the Charter enters into force.

It is recalled that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed the Charter of the Peace Council earlier today.
