“Democratic Alternative” Party to Participate in Elections with “Prosperous Armenia”
The “Democratic Alternative” party has decided to join the “Proposal to Armenia” program and participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections together with the “Prosperous Armenia” party. This was announced by the Chairman of the Political Council, Suren Surenyants, during the party’s congress.
According to him, this step is expected and logical, as institutional cooperation has been formed between the “Democratic Alternative” and “Prosperous Armenia” parties over the past six years. He also expressed conviction that it will be possible to form a large field of opposition figures around the “Proposal to Armenia” program.
Earlier, on February 15, the “Mother Armenia” party also announced that it would participate in the National Assembly (NA) elections jointly with the PAP (Prosperous Armenia Party) within the framework of the same program. The party leader, Andranik Tevanyan, noted that as a result of discussions, they assessed the “Proposal to Armenia” initiative positively and are preparing to participate in the elections in that format. According to him, “Mother Armenia” will act as a co-author of the program and will contribute to its enrichment with its ideas and proposals.
PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan had previously stated that he views the “Proposal to Armenia” pre-election program as a political and public “Noah’s Ark,” within the framework of which various proposals and solutions should be consolidated.
The National Assembly elections are scheduled for June 7.
